Welcome to Lingoona

We provide top-tier localization services and middleware solutions specifically tailored for video games.

Localization

We provide comprehensive localization services for your projects, with a strong emphasis on European languages, all handled by native speakers.

Our translators and proofreaders are meticulously chosen based on their experience and areas of interest, ensuring the best match for each specific project.

Tools & Development

We use internally developed tools to help our translators deliver consistent, high-quality translations.

Additionally, your teams can also access these tools if desired, making it easy for them to retrieve project details or provide feedback.

Grammar Engine

We have developed our own cross-platform text formatting library to empower translators by allowing them to use natural sentence structures, rather than forcing them to follow rigid placeholder templates.

By Gamers for Gamers

Lingoona began with a small group of passionate gamers who simply weren’t satisfied with the quality of translations in their favorite games.

We wanted to change that, so we started building a team of like-minded people who share our enthusiasm for gaming and localization.

Fair for Everyone

Rather than pursuing a massive portfolio and constant growth, we have always prioritized quality results and long-term relationships.

We strive to keep our prices fair and reasonable, but we never compromise on quality or the working conditions and well-being of our employees and freelancers.

#TranslatorsInTheCredits

We believe that everyone involved in a project deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication.

That's why we never conceal their names or isolate them from publishers and developers. In fact, we actively encourage direct engagement with developers, QA teams, and fans whenever possible.

Current and Past Projects

The idea behind Lingoona originally began as a side project at Trilobit GmbH, aiming to improve the translation quality of Dark Age of Camelot. This effort eventually expanded to include work on other games published by GOA Games Services, such as Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and League of Legends.

Since officially founding Lingoona GmbH as an independent company, we have continued working on a wide range of projects—from small mobile titles like King of Thieves to major AAA MMORPGs like The Elder Scrolls Online. While we've always prioritized quality over quantity and long-term partnerships, the following list is just a small sampling of our favorite and most significant projects to date.

Below is a partial list of our most significant and largest projects to date.

The Elder Scrolls Online

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks

Our experience and success with both Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online paved the way for us to work on The Elder Scrolls Online. For over ten years, we have dedicated ourselves to refining and enhancing the game's translations, merging new content with established—though occasionally inconsistent—translations from earlier games in the series.

League of Legends

Publisher: GOA Games Services, Riot Games

Originally just another free-to-play title in GOA's gaming portfolio, we played a key role in developing and standardizing the German translations and terminology for a game and franchise that would ultimately redefine eSports.

Dark Age of Camelot

Publisher: GOA Games Services, Electronic Arts

The game we loved and that started it all: We enjoyed playing it, but we also wanted higher translation quality. In the end, we got the chance to take a shot at it ourselves and proved it could be done.

Hero Zero

Publisher: Playata

We don't restrict ourselves to fantasy worlds or serious stories on PC and consoles. Hero Zero is just one of several mobile games in our portfolio that features a more modern and lighthearted tone.

Age of Wonders 4

Publisher: Paradox Interactive

Flexible character and race customization options make use of our Grammar Engine to provide natural-sounding quests, dialogue, and descriptions in 9 different languages, all while respecting player choices—such as their leader's gender—without sacrificing translation quality or struggling with language-specific nuances.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Publisher: GOA Games Services, Electronic Arts

The premiere title for our very own Grammar Engine offered more immersive and flexible quests in five languages, without sacrificing detail or resorting to awkward sentence structures.

Kerbal Space Program

Publisher: Take-Two Interactive, Private Division

While small green aliens were crossing into new frontiers, we did the same by adding Grammar Engine support for Russian—the first fully-supported language in our system that doesn't use the Latin character set.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Publisher: Electronic Arts

Star Wars: The Old Republic was the second MMORPG, alongside Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, to use our Grammar Engine and deliver more flexible text to players.
